Gasgoo Munich-CALB signed a cooperation agreement with the Changfeng County government in Hefei on September 8, marking the official establishment of the CALB Hefei Research Institute.

Qin Weiguo, Anhui Provincial Standing Committee member and Hefei Party Secretary, noted that CALB's continued investment and the implementation of new projects are driving the city's booming new energy industry. He expressed hope that the company will expand its presence, accelerate existing projects, and move into new business areas, thereby attracting more upstream and downstream enterprises to Hefei.

CALB Chairman Liu Jingyu remarked that Hefei boasts clear locational advantages, an excellent industrial ecosystem, and a strong business environment, with robust momentum for high-quality development. Noting that the city and the company are an "ideal match," she said CALB will treat Hefei as a key strategic base, accelerate project planning, and better support the sustained high-quality development of the local and national new energy industries.

In 2025, Hefei's new energy vehicle production reached 1.371 million units, ranking first among Chinese cities. In the first half of 2026, the city's total vehicle output exceeded 750,000 units, with new energy vehicle production surpassing 550,000 units.

In 2025, CALB's power battery installations climbed to 62.8 GWh — a 52.6% year-on-year increase — ranking fourth globally and third in China. From January to July 2026, global installations hit 37.3 GWh, up 34.3% from the previous year, with market share rising to 5.1%.

The project encompasses a pilot line, R&D laboratories, and an experimental testing center, focusing on the research, development, and testing of lithium batteries and related products.

Liu Jingyu stated that the Hefei Research Institute will be built into a comprehensive R&D platform with a complete system. It plans to recruit over 2,000 R&D professionals in the future, establishing a full-chain innovation loop spanning "technology R&D, pilot verification, and product testing." The institute will also deepen collaborative innovation with local universities, research institutes, and leading enterprises.

Construction of the CALB Hefei base began in 2021 with a total investment of 24.8 billion yuan. Currently, the first and second phases are operational, the third phase is approaching production, and the fourth phase is under rapid construction. Once fully operational, it will become CALB's largest production base in China, creating nearly 10,000 jobs.

With the establishment of this innovation platform, the Hefei new energy industry's capacity for innovation and core competitiveness will be further enhanced.
