Gasgoo Munich- Chinese leading power battery manufacturer CATL (300750) unveiled its interim cash dividend plan for 2026. The announcement states the company will distribute 14.11 yuan (including tax) for every 10 shares based on a total of 4.38 billion shares—excluding repurchased stock. The plan sends a clear signal: CATL, a lithium battery giant built on relentless capital expansion, is shifting its strategic logic. During the power battery industry's boom years, CATL prioritized heavy investment in capacity expansion and cutting-edge R&D, keeping dividends relatively restrained. Now, the implementation of a sizable interim payout suggests the company is starting to balance operational focus with long-term shareholder returns.
On the fundamentals, steady cash flow is what makes this payout possible. As a top global supplier of power batteries, CATL commands a dominant share of the automotive market. At the same time, its energy storage business is expanding rapidly, emerging as a vital second growth engine. Together, these two pillars build a solid foundation for operating cash flow, creating the conditions for consistent shareholder rewards.
Multiple research firms note that the 6.18 billion yuan interim payout places CATL in the first tier of A-share manufacturing. The shift in dividend strategy by a leading heavyweight has implications beyond the company itself. As a core constituent of the ChiNext board, CATL is expected to improve the overall dividend environment for key indices like the ChiNext 50 by establishing a regular, high-level payout mechanism—potentially drawing more long-term capital into growth sectors.
