Gasgoo Munich- On August 17 that CATL held a conference on carbon neutrality in its core operations in Ningde, Fujian. The company announced that it has achieved carbon neutrality in core operations by the end of 2025 and, for the first time, systematically disclosed its roadmap to carbon neutrality across the entire value chain by 2035.
Why is getting to zero carbon so critical? CATL Chairman and CEO Zeng Yuqun provided the answer during his speech at the event.

"Achieving zero carbon is not just CATL's own mission; in the process, we have built up zero-carbon capabilities and identified massive market opportunities," Zeng said. "This isn't just about corporate social responsibility or duty — it's a business opportunity. So, zero carbon is a mission, but more importantly, it's a capability."
Zeng noted that amid rapid growth, CATL has validated a replicable, economically viable path to zero-carbon manufacturing within its massive production system. By accurately calculating carbon emissions, mapping out reduction strategies, accumulating data and methodologies, and developing new technologies, the company aims to offer a model for the rest of the industry to follow.
To that end, CATL has pioneered a goal to achieve carbon neutrality across its entire value chain by 2035. It will also support partners committed to zero-carbon principles, working together to raise industry standards and build a new kind of green competitiveness.
Official data shows CATL produced 748 GWh of batteries in 2025. Between 2022 and 2025, sales of lithium-ion batteries surged 2.3-fold, with the company maintaining its position as the global market leader.
Zeng went further in his speech, declaring: "I believe that in the future, batteries that aren't zero-carbon will be eliminated by the times!"
Back in June, CATL established a subsidiary called Time Zero Carbon in Xiamen. The entity is tasked with coordinating the global rollout of the company's zero-carbon technologies and business operations.
As a zero-carbon technology firm, CATL is applying zero-carbon power across a wide range of industries. Its battery products now serve more than 30 million users worldwide, accelerating the rapid electrification of global transport.
