Gasgoo Munich- Gasgoo has learned that on April 24, Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. ("Chery") and Bosch (China) Investment Ltd. ("Bosch") signed a framework agreement in Beijing for the cooperative development and mass production of 48V vehicle architecture. The two companies are deepening their strategic partnership to pioneer the mass production of next-generation 48V vehicle architecture in China.

As smart vehicles drive surging demand for high-power components — from onboard computing and intelligent cockpits to by-wire chassis — traditional 12V electrical systems are hitting their physical limits. The industry consensus is clear: 48V architecture is the way forward. This deepened partnership between Chery and Bosch zeroes in on rearchitecting the foundational electrical systems of intelligent vehicles.
The jointly developed 48V architecture delivers on multiple fronts: high power, lightweight design, integration, reliability, and scalability. Vehicle power supply capacity climbs to 15 kW, while system weight sheds more than 10 kilograms. By-wire chassis steering motor response sharpens by over 20%. The architecture also incorporates an independent redundant power supply design, ensuring critical systems — intelligent driving, braking, and steering — remain stable even under extreme conditions. Down the line, the technology could expand into emerging fields such as robotics.
Chery and Bosch have been partners for 25 years, achieving joint technical breakthroughs across multiple domains. In October 2024, the two sides signed a cooperation memorandum on 48V low-voltage systems and formed a joint preliminary research team. After 18 months of intensive development, they successfully completed three core objectives: vehicle system and functional prototype development, key component prototyping, and industrialization path planning — laying a solid foundation for mass production. The technology is slated to debut on flagship models from EXEED, Chery's premium brand.
