It is reported that Dodge's Hornet mass production has been approved by the Company's senior officials. Chrysler's board of management has agreed this model to be made by Chinese automobile manufacturer Chery, its OEM in China. Chrysler hopes this B-class model could seize not only the United States market, but also more market shares in China. Hornets maximum output power is 127 kW (170hp) / 4000rpm. It is believed that the model will show in Frankfurt Motor Show in September this year.
It is good news that Hornet mass production is part of Chrysler 3-year 3 billion U.S. dollars recovery plan, and has been approved by the Cerberus Foundation. The Group hopes this China-made model could come back to the U.S. market one day.
