Chery revives iconic QQ with presale of all-new QQ3 kicking off

Gasgoo Munich- The story of the Chery QQ mirrors the early stages of mass car ownership in China. When the first generation of the QQ debuted in 2003, its starting price of just 29,800 yuan dramatically lowered the barrier to vehicle ownership. The small city car quickly became a symbol of affordable mobility, helping thousands of families purchase their first vehicle and earning a reputation as one of China"s most recognizable "people"s cars."

On March 10, Chery Automobile opened pre-orders for the all-new QQ3 EV, marking the return of the iconic nameplate in an all-electric form. Rather than a simple refresh, the model represents a reinvention of the classic QQ for the era of new energy vehicles, combining more than two decades of product heritage with the evolving demands of China"s rapidly transforming auto market.

The model is offered in four variants, with pre-sale prices ranging from 68,920 yuan to 89,985 yuan, positioning it squarely in the entry-level electric vehicle segment aimed at urban commuters.

While maintaining the friendly and playful design identity associated with the QQ series, the new model introduces a more contemporary electric-vehicle styling language. Chery has upgraded the vehicle across multiple areas—including design, interior space, technology features and powertrain performance—to better match the expectations of modern urban drivers.

Stylistically, the all-new QQ3 EV adopts a rounded and approachable design that reflects the original QQ"s character. The front fascia features a closed grille typical of electric vehicles, paired with distinctive Q-shaped LED headlamps and a curved lower intake design that adds a subtle sporty touch while enhancing visual identity.

Smooth side body lines, semi-concealed door handles, and contrasting black wheel arch trims create a cleaner and more modern profile. At the rear, rounded taillights echo the front-end styling, reinforcing the vehicle"s playful yet minimalist aesthetic.

Despite its compact positioning, the car offers relatively generous dimensions for the segment, measuring 4,195 mm in length, 1,811 mm in width and around 1,570 mm in height, with a 2,700 mm wheelbase. A five-door, five-seat layout and a high space utilization rate aim to address the cramped cabin concerns often associated with small cars, making the vehicle suitable for both daily commuting and short family trips.

Six exterior color options—including soft pastel tones such as pink-beige and feather white—are offered to appeal to a broad range of buyers, blending simplicity with a sense of personalization.

Inside the cabin, the design emphasizes simplicity and brightness, with two interior color schemes available. Oval-shaped elements echo the exterior styling, helping create a lively and youthful cockpit atmosphere.

Digital features represent a major highlight of the new model. The vehicle is equipped with an AI-powered smart cockpit centered around a 15.6-inch 2.5K infotainment display powered by the Snapdragon 8155 chip from Qualcomm. The system integrates an intelligent assistant capable of voice commands across multiple scenarios, along with gesture shortcuts and customizable interface themes designed to enhance the user experience.

Comfort and practicality are also emphasized. Front seats offer ventilation and heating functions, while features such as an adjustable color-temperature vanity mirror add convenience. The vehicle includes four modular expansion ports for accessories, a 70-liter powered front trunk, and a rear cargo area that can expand from 375 liters to 1,450 liters. In total, the cabin provides 38 storage spaces to maximize everyday usability.

Safety features include a body structure with 72% high-strength steel and 19% hot-formed steel. The vehicle is equipped with six airbags, a 540-degree panoramic camera system, and the Falcon 500 driver assistance system, which supports automated parking across a wide range of scenarios and highway navigation-assisted driving functions.

In terms of powertrain configuration, the all-new QQ3 EV adopts a rear-mounted, rear-wheel-drive layout and offers two motor options. The electric motors deliver maximum outputs of 58 kW and 90 kW, with torque ratings of 90 Nm and 115 Nm respectively, providing smooth performance suited to urban driving conditions.

Battery packs with capacities of 29.48 kWh and 41.28 kWh are available, delivering CLTC-rated driving ranges of 310 km and 420 km. These options are designed to meet the needs of daily commuting as well as short leisure trips.

Fast-charging capability allows the battery to recharge from 30% to 80% in approximately 16.5 minutes. The vehicle also supports external power output of 3.3 kW or 6.6 kW for powering devices during outdoor activities. A rear multi-link independent suspension and a tight 5.2-meter turning radius aim to deliver both agile handling and ride comfort in city environments.
