Chery Automobile Co. isn't in talks to buy a Fiat factory in Sicily, spokesman Jin Yibo said Monday, denying a report by La Repubblica saying the Chinese auto maker might buy the plant.
Meanwhile, the Beijing News reported that Chery, China's largest independent auto maker by sales volume, plans to spend $500 million to build a plant in Turkey.
Jin declined to comment on the report, but said the company's sales have been good in Turkey since the auto maker entered the market last year.
"We look favorably upon the Turkish market," he said. "But we haven't made any decision on building a plant there."
