China to Enforce New EV Maintenance Safety Standard from Aug. 1

Gasgoo Munich- The national standard "Safety Requirements for New Energy Vehicle Maintenance Operations" (GB/T 47439—2026) takes effect on August 1. The standard sets out systematic safety protocols for new energy vehicle maintenance operations.

The standard covers technician qualifications and site conditions, pre-work preparations, risk assessment, emergency response, specific workflows, and safety protocols during operation. In terms of scope, it focuses on maintenance for high-voltage systems in new energy vehicles and hydrogen supply systems in fuel-cell vehicles.

For workflow management, the code defines critical requirements across three stages: before, during, and after the job. It emphasizes basics like checking protective gear and tools, verifying the site environment, and identifying risks. Operational norms for repairing Class B voltage circuits are also explicitly detailed.
