Strong demand for passenger vehicles boosted vehicle output and sales in China. This April Chang'an Ford sold more than 20,000 units of vehicles and was ranked in the top ten best-sellers in the domestic market for the first time in April alone, while Beijing Hyundai dropped out of the top ten lists in the fourth month.
China's top ten automakers in terms of passenger vehicle sales in April are SGM, SVW, FAW, Chery Auto, Dongfeng Motor Co, Guangzhou Honda Auto, Chang'an Ford, FAW-VW, Shenlong Auto Corp and FAW Xiali Auto.
Passenger vehicle sales of the first three automakers all exceed 40,000 units in April. Beijing Hyundai was down to the sixth position in March from previously being fifth, and in April the company was marked down lower in the sales list. One reason for the decline is that Beijing Hyundai chose to launch new models rather than drop prices of existing ones to boost sales during March while many other brand models all saw price cuts more or less.
Chinese car makers sold 521,900 passenger vehicles including cars, sports utility vehicles, multi purpose vehicles and mini buses in April, a rise of 15.2 percent from a year earlier; Production also increased by 11.3%.
