Gasgoo Munich- China' s new-energy vehicle production and sales reached 1.814 million and 1.823 million units in September 2026, climbing 12.2% and 13.6% from a year earlier, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers. For the first nine months, output and sales totaled 12.483 million and 12.472 million units — gains of 11% and 11.1%, respectively.

On the domestic front, local sales slipped 9.4% from a year earlier to 1.252 million units in September, though that figure marked a 12% jump from August. For the first nine months, domestic deliveries totaled 8.466 million units — a 10.6% decline from the same period last year.
Exports, meanwhile, surged 160% from a year earlier to 571,000 units in September, edging up 8.6% from the prior month. Overseas shipments over the first nine months reached 4.006 million units — a 130% annual gain.
Market penetration continues to rise. NEVs accounted for more than 50% of cumulative new-car sales through September, with the domestic share climbing each month and the export share topping the 50% mark for a fourth consecutive month.
