Gasgoo Munich- WeRide has struck a strategic partnership with Danish mobility platform GreenMobility, aiming to build Denmark’s first commercial autonomous ride-hailing service. The move marks the Chinese autonomous driving startup’s debut in Northern Europe — making it the first Chinese Robotaxi firm to establish a presence in the region.

Pending regulatory approval, the partners aim to roll out commercial services to the Danish public in the first half of 2027, deploying WeRide’s latest-generation L4 Robotaxi GXR — a vehicle compliant with EU regulations. Denmark becomes the sixth European country for WeRide. The company had previously announced similar launches in Madrid and Zurich in June 2026, signaling an accelerated push across the continent.
WeRide pointed to Denmark’s robust digital infrastructure and high electric vehicle adoption rates, noting that the country’s forward-looking regulatory framework creates ideal conditions for autonomous operations. The initiative also exemplifies WeRide’s "asset-light" global expansion strategy, which pairs its autonomous driving technology with local operators’ fleets and user bases to accelerate market entry.
With GreenMobility on board, WeRide’s global partnership network is widening. The company now counts international platforms like Uber and Grab, alongside local operators in various nations, as part of its multi-tiered ecosystem. WeRide plans to work closely with Danish authorities to advance the project, ensuring strict compliance with existing laws while delivering safe and sustainable mobility solutions.
WeRide currently operates across 13 countries and more than 40 cities, holding autonomous driving permits in eight nations with a fleet of over 3,000 L4 vehicles. Its partner, GreenMobility, runs the largest free-floating car-sharing network in Northern Europe, managing a fleet of more than 1,500 electric vehicles. The two companies expect to release further updates on the project in the coming months.
