The second phase of the Wuhan facility is designed for an annual capacity of 80 GWh, focusing on power batteries, energy storage systems, and PACK modules. The deal marks a strategic move for CORNEX to deepen its local footprint and capitalize on rising global demand for new energy products.
"CORNEX was born in Hubei and grew up in Wuhan," said Dai Deming, chairman of CORNEX. He credited the city's favorable business environment, deep talent pool, and innovative ecosystem for fueling the company's expansion. Dai pledged to deepen ties with Wuhan in areas ranging from batteries to intelligent connected vehicles and commercial operations. The goal is to scale up the local R&D and manufacturing base, reinforcing the city's supply chain for new energy and smart vehicles and driving high-quality regional development.
To date, CORNEX has mapped out more than 500 GWh of planned capacity, bolstering supply chain resilience, technology transfer efficiency, and market responsiveness. With production bases already scattered across Hubei—including Wuhan, Xiaogan, Yichang, and Xiangyang—the new Phase II project will further consolidate the company's manufacturing footprint in the province. It is also expected to boost Wuhan's new energy sector and local economy, accelerating the build-out of Hubei's new energy industrial cluster.
