Czech automotive production rose 9.94% to 943,117 vehicles in 2007, the Czech Automotive Industry Association has reported. Car production grew 9.66% to 932,016 vehicles, of which the great majority, 870,142, were built for export.
Skoda Auto, the country's highest volume vehicle producer, built 623,529 vehicles, while the joint venture of Toyota and PSA Peugeot-Citroën produced 308,478.
Czech commercial vehicle production reached 3,154 vehicles in 2007, and while bus makers in the country produced 3,357 buses.
- Automotive News Europe has reported that Skoda's next Superb large car model currently being prepared for launch will be made available in more variants than the outgoing model, including an estate car and a possible future SUV, and that it is expected to outsell its predecessor handsomely, by competing more directly with several premium brands’ offerings in its segment.
