China's commercial vehicle production output (including bus and truck, as well as chassis) reached 2,041,767 units in 2006, has increased by 14.83 percent each year.

It is expected that output and sales of commercial vehicle will increase by 17 percent and reach 2.40 million units by 2007. Of which 2.1 million units will go for domestic market, while 300,000 vehicles will go for export.

Healthy economy contributes to sales

Fast growth in China's economy and the construction of infrastructure boosted China's commercial vehicle industry to double-digit growth in 2006.

Truck sector

The heavy-duty truck sector emerged from its period of adjustment and finished with positive growth at the end of 2006. Sales reached 306,000 units, up 28 percent year-on-year. Of total sales, semi-tracker trailers accounted for more than 93,000 units, up a strong 59 percent on last year.

Bus sector

China's tourism income is expected to reach RMB800 billion (USD$103.6 billion) this year. This heated demand will continue to stimulate sales of mid-to high-end buses and coaches. Luxury coach sales reached 1,665 units, up 9.5 percent in 2006. Analysts expect the market to continue to grow at around 10 percent this year.
