The agreement represents ECARX's formal entry into the LiDAR segment, expanding the company's footprint beyond intelligent cockpit systems and automotive computing platforms into autonomous driving perception technologies.
Under the agreement, ECARX and TPK will co-develop the ORCA LiDAR platform in compliance with international regulatory requirements and functional safety standards. The platform is scheduled to enter mass production in 2028 at TPK's manufacturing facility in Thailand.
By leveraging TPK's global manufacturing network, the two companies aim to strengthen supply-chain resilience and improve large-scale delivery capabilities for overseas automotive customers.
As ADAS and autonomous driving technologies gain wider adoption, LiDAR is increasingly viewed as a critical sensor for improving environmental perception redundancy, safety performance and object recognition in complex driving conditions.
According to the companies, the ORCA platform is being designed with tightly integrated hardware and software architecture to deliver low-latency environmental sensing capabilities for next-generation ADAS and AI-powered autonomous driving systems.
The platform is intended for global mass-market deployment and will support a broad range of applications, including premium passenger vehicles and large-scale intelligent mobility services operated by Robotaxi fleets.
The collaboration will initially focus on joint system design, with each company contributing complementary capabilities to the project.
ECARX will provide intelligent automotive technologies, sensor-fusion expertise and access to its existing partnerships with global automakers and Robotaxi operators. TPK, meanwhile, will contribute optical engineering, product development and large-scale precision component manufacturing capabilities.
Through the partnership, ECARX is seeking to deepen integration across perception systems, computing platforms and autonomous driving software stacks as competition intensifies in the global intelligent driving market.
