Gasgoo Munich- ECARX Technology has struck a strategic framework agreement with U.S. autonomous driving firm May Mobility. The company will provide a full-stack smart driving solution for May Mobility’s future Robotaxi fleet, accelerating the rollout of its autonomous mobility services.

The partners have already identified the first vehicle platform for collaboration, with plans to launch a pilot program next year and move into large-scale commercial operations by 2028.

Per the agreement, ECARX will deliver core technology for May Mobility’s next-generation autonomous driving system, including a customized AI central computing platform and a complete sensor suite. These solutions are slated for deployment across more than 10,000 of May Mobility’s autonomous vehicles.

Specifically, ECARX’s in-house, high-performance, automotive-grade, and scalable AI central computing platform will undergo deep optimization for May Mobility’s driverless operations. This setup will support the continuous iteration of the company’s world model algorithms.

On the sensor front, ECARX will facilitate a customized suite of high-precision perception hardware—encompassing LiDAR, millimeter-wave radar, vehicle cameras, and inertial measurement units. This combination aims to deliver 360-degree environmental perception, meeting the rigorous safety requirements of Level 4 autonomous driving.

At the same time, the partners are jointly focused on driving down the total cost of autonomous vehicles, with a target to slash overall vehicle costs by at least 50% by 2028.

ECARX noted that the partnership allows May Mobility to leverage its extensive engineering mass-production capabilities and cost-effective system-level solutions to rapidly scale its autonomous fleet. For ECARX, the deal opens a new growth avenue in the Robotaxi sector while further solidifying its technological and commercial footprint in global smart mobility.

Looking ahead, these customized solutions will be integrated into May Mobility’s selected vehicle platforms to advance its "autonomous driving as a service" business model. The total projected value of the project lifecycle is approximately $750 million.
