Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On Jan. 5, Nanjing ENCOS Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. announced that its first dexterous hand, the EC-DexHand-5F, has entered full mass production.
The EC-DexHand-5F was formally unveiled in April 2025. With its compact footprint and a human-hand proportional design, it achieves an exceptionally tight bionic form factor that slots cleanly into embodied-intelligence robot platforms.
Specifically, the EC-DexHand-5F offers 20 active degrees of freedom. Each finger joint can be driven independently and precisely; paired with full-joint force feedback, it senses grip strength and enables fine manipulation, delivering human-hand agility. The EC-DexHand-5F also comes standard with an EtherCAT interface, supporting highly real-time, synchronized data transfer. It integrates seamlessly with a range of control systems, providing efficient support for data collection and for training and deploying large models.

ENCOS' breakthrough in dexterous hands stems from its long-running work in robot joint modules. Its modules now span planetary, harmonic and cycloidal drive technologies; shipments in 2025 topped 100,000 units, making it the industry's first joint-module maker to reach that scale.
At the world's first humanoid-robot half marathon in April 2025, more than 50% of entrants used ENCOS joint modules, while both the winning and runner-up robots were fully outfitted with its joints.
Dexterous hands — complex and costly — have long been viewed as a core bottleneck for mass-producing humanoids. ENCOS' manufacturing push not only gives domestic robot makers a homegrown alternative to imports, it also drives down costs through scale.
China's dexterous-hand market is diversifying: Inspire Robots, PaXini TechI and Unitree Robotics, among others, have rolled out products based on different technical routes. With strong joint-technology transfer capabilities and a first-mover edge in mass production, ENCOS aims to seize the initiative.
As mass production ramps, ENCOS is also drawing interest in capital markets. In December 2025, the company closed a new round of nearly RMB 200 million. This marks ENCOS' third funding round this year. Earlier, in mid-June, ENCOS disclosed another round.
