NIO Achieves Quarterly Profit
On February 5, NIO issued a profit guidance. The company projects an adjusted operating profit of 700 million yuan to 1.2 billion yuan for the fourth quarter of 2025.
The announcement indicates that unaudited consolidated management accounts and available board data suggest an adjusted operating profit (non-GAAP)—defined as operating profit excluding share-based compensation—of approximately 700 million yuan ($100 million) to 1.2 billion yuan ($172 million) for the fourth quarter of 2025. This represents the company's first quarterly adjusted operating profit under non-GAAP standards.

The company attributes this profitability to several factors. These include sustained sales growth in the fourth quarter of 2025 and improved automotive gross margins driven by a favorable product mix. Ongoing cost-reduction and efficiency measures also contributed.
NIO's Hong Kong-listed shares opened strong on February 6. They surged more than 6% at one point during intraday trading.
Meanwhile, NIO founder William Li announced another milestone on Weibo. Battery swaps have exceeded 99.9 million. The 100 millionth swap is scheduled for completion on February 6.
Gasgoo Takeaway: NIO's quarterly profit sends a positive signal. However, a full turnaround to sustainable profitability will likely take time. Nevertheless, recent positive news has injected optimism into the market.
Grace Tao: Shanghai Gigafactory Contributed to Over Half of Tesla's Global Deliveries in 2025
On February 5, Tesla Vice President Grace Tao announced a milestone. In 2025, the Shanghai Gigafactory delivered more than half of Tesla's global volume. Additionally, output from the energy storage Megafactory has begun supplying domestic and international markets. This success is a testament to the team's collective effort.
The Shanghai Gigafactory plays a pivotal role in Tesla's global layout. Its history is marked by a steady stream of refreshed milestones.
In late July 2024, Tesla announced the production of its 10 millionth drive unit globally at the Shanghai Gigafactory. At the time, the company stated: "Tesla redefined the drive unit, developing and producing it from scratch. These 10 million powerful hearts make every Tesla a performance car. Thanks to the support of over 6 million owners, we are accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy."
Tesla's full-year 2025 financial report reveals global production of approximately 1.655 million electric vehicles and deliveries of 1.636 million. Asia-Pacific deliveries hit a record high. The Shanghai Gigafactory alone delivered 851,000 vehicles. This accounts for more than half of global total deliveries. It solidifies the facility's status as the world's largest export hub.
Gasgoo Takeaway: There is no doubt that Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory is central to its global capacity and cost advantage. This underscores the success of its Chinese supply chain efficiency and localization strategy.
XPENG Unveils "AI New Luxury" Large Six-Seat Flagship SUV GX
On February 5, XPENG founder He Xiaopeng announced the upcoming launch of its first flagship large six-seat SUV, the XPENG GX. He simultaneously released official images of the new model.
The official images reveal the XPENG GX featuring the latest family design language. Its silhouette is both minimalist and imposing. The front features the signature continuous light bar, a highly aggressive front bumper, and dynamic air intakes.

Explaining the rationale behind the model, He cited extensive user research. The data shows that current three-row SUVs often have uncomfortable third-row seating. They also lack sufficient cargo space when fully loaded and have cumbersome handling. These pain points create an industry "impossible triangle." Comfort, space, and handling are rarely mutually compatible, forcing families to compromise before every trip. XPENG developed this large six-seat SUV to address this core need.
Gasgoo Takeaway: This is a proactive move for XPENG to round out its product matrix. It aims to push into the high-end market. Yet, as competition intensifies, it remains to be seen how consumers will embrace the concept of "AI luxury."
Li Auto to Launch New L9 Livis Edition
On February 6, Li Auto officially unveiled the next-generation Li Auto L9. It is branded as an "embodied AI flagship SUV that spans generations." The company also released official images of the new vehicle.
Meanwhile, Li Auto founder Li Xiang took to Weibo. He revealed further details about the model's core features and market strategy.
"Four years ago, the first-generation L9 made everyone remember the 'on-board appliances and comfort amenities' and the title of 'best SUV under 5 million yuan,'" Li said. "Over the past four years, we realized one thing: the evolution of the new L9 isn't about chasing spec upgrades. It's about creating a generational gap in experience and building a car that truly understands you—a car with vitality."
"Building on that, we've prepared a flagship version for users seeking the ultimate experience: the Li Auto L9 Livis, priced at 559,800 yuan. It embodies our vision for a flagship SUV in the era of embodied AI and achieves three 'generational' breakthroughs."
Li noted that the new L9 will offer a custom two-tone body finish. It utilizes triple-layer painting and hand-polishing to eliminate seams. The model is slated for an official launch in the second quarter of 2026.
Gasgoo Takeaway: As a strategic model for Li Auto in 2026, the L9 Livis carries the weight of turning the tide. But facing a crowded field of large three-row SUVs, its market performance remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance released a teaser video for the new car. The caption read: "AITO strong contender, the 'over 6' arrives!" The video offers only glimpses of product details, refraining from showing the AITO M6 in its entirety.
In fact, prior to this official teaser, footage of the AITO M6 undergoing winter testing had already leaked online. It revealed some product details ahead of schedule.
Currently, the AITO brand has four models officially on sale: the M5, M7, M8, and M9. They cover various segments and market tiers. The upcoming M6 is positioned as a five-seat mid-to-large SUV. Its addition will further refine AITO's product matrix. This enables more precise market coverage and meets diverse consumer needs, thereby bolstering the brand's competitive edge.
Gasgoo Takeaway: The debut of the AITO M6 isn't just about filling market gaps. It signals that the brand's smart ecosystem and channel advantages are poised to launch a more comprehensive market offensive.
