Shanghai, September 25 (Gasgoo.com) FAW Group Corporation, a leading automaker in the country, saw its January-August sales rising 17.1% from the same period last year, reported Xinhua News Agency Wednesday.
The Changchun-based company sold 105,698 vehicles in August, while in the first eight months, it sold 1.08 million vehicles in total. Its market share for the period rose 0.4% from a year earlier to 16.7%.
In respect of passenger cars, FAW Car Co saw sales climbing 44.7% to 10,592 units, driven by strong sales performance of Mazda6 and Besturn models. Faw Car Co sold 79,750 cars between January and August, up 65% year on year.
Vehicle sales in China for the January-August period this year rose 13.9% to 6.48m units, of which sales of passenger cars for the period rose 13.9% year on year to 4.55m units.
