FAW Volkswagen is now the number one car-maker in the country. The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers says it heads a top-ten list of the auto-makers by size, which together, account for two-thirds of auto sales in China.
Others who made the list are Shanghai Volkswagen, General Motor, Toyota, Chery, Nissan, Geely, Honda, Hyundai and Ford.
The rankings were drawn up based on data from the first 4 months of the year, with 1.2 million cars being sold during the period, both within the country, and as exports. But last month saw a huge improvement in Hyundai in terms of auto sales, with a big leap from 11th to 6th position.
