The Bingo's rollout is a milestone as the first Wuling model assembled locally in Malaysia. The partnership marries SGMW's global EV expertise with Tan Chong's manufacturing experience, ensuring the car meets international quality standards while catering to local preferences.
Successful localization stems from Wuling's early market research and supply chain planning. The company has established a localized supply chain for vehicles and core components, boosting delivery efficiency and offering better value. Additionally, the Bingo features the "Shenlian" battery, known for its "zero fire upon collision" safety — a key selling point that addresses local concerns about EV safety.
As a localized export model, the Wuling Bingo has been optimized for markets including Southeast Asia, Central Asia, Latin America, and Africa, drawing attention through its regional strategy.
Malaysia's EV market is accelerating rapidly, with pure electric sales surging more than 200% year-on-year and about one-quarter of consumers considering an EV purchase. The launch of the locally built Bingo adds a new option for buyers and aligns with the country's push for green mobility.
