Gasgoo Munich-Dongfeng's new-energy intelligent off-road vehicle project officially entered production in Xiangyang on Oct. 10, with the first production MHERO X700 rolling off the line the same day. The new model will officially hit the market on Oct. 25, Hubei Daily reported.

The MHERO X700 is the first model born from the 2.0 strategic partnership between MHERO and Huawei Qiankun. Positioned as a luxury smart all-terrain SUV, it packs Huawei Qiankun’s full intelligent stack: Qiankun ADS 5 for autonomous driving, the HarmonySpace 6 cockpit, and Whale Fin communication tech. Presales opened on Sept. 28 across three variants — AWD Max, AWD Max+, and AWD Ultra — with prices ranging from 249,800 to 289,800 yuan. Early orders topped 8,000 units within the first 24 hours.
On the production front, Dongfeng’s new-energy intelligent off-road project carries a total investment of 10.6 billion yuan. The Xiangyang plant has completed 80 industrialization upgrades and smart retrofits across its three main workshops — welding, painting, and general assembly — establishing a flexible, mixed-flow new-energy production line.
On the supply-chain side, 61% of the MHERO X700’s components are sourced within Hubei province, drawing 28 new-energy suppliers to set up operations in Xiangyang. MHERO Auto now operates a dual-hub model across Wuhan and Xiangyang, with a product lineup spanning three segments: extreme hardcore off-roaders, luxury smart off-roaders, and family-oriented intelligent mobility.
