The UAW said Friday that it reached an agreement with Ford Motor Co. to invest $200 million to build a new fuel-
efficient transmission at its Sharonville, Ohio plant.
“This shows what we can accomplish when we work together to preserve good-paying manufacturing jobs in the United
States," UAW President Ron Gettelfinger said in a statement.
UAW Vice President Bob King said the plant's workers "earned the agreement."
Lloyd Mahaffey, director of the UAW's Region 2B, which includes Ohio, said the investment gives workers a great
opportunity to “power the Ford vehicles of the future.”
