Ford Motor Co. said today that its Wixom assembly plant will close May 31.
Once one of the automaker's flagship factories, the Wixom plant has built primarily Lincoln sedans. Ford had said in January 2006 that it would shutter the facility as part of its turnaround plan.
The Dearborn-based automaker, which lost $12.7 billion last year, has said it will close 14 plants and cut as many as 30,000 jobs by 2012.
