Gasgoo.com (Shanghai April 26th)- LeEco Auto, an automotive subsidiary of LeEco, a technology company, and one of the largest online video companies in China, has Zhang Hailiang, the former CEO of SAIC Volkswagen, to be its CEO and COO since April 24, 2016.
Zhang Hailiang joined Shanghai Volkswagen in1994 and had worked in different units including procurement, logistics, planning and engineering. He became CEO of SAIC Volkswagen Automobile Sales Co., LTD., in October 2007 and was promoted to be managing director of Shanghai Volkswagen in 2010. Then Zhang became the youngest vice President of SAIC in August 2014. He led Shanghai Volkswagen to become the first rated carmakers in China’s automotive market.
After further understanding of LeEco Auto, Zhang thinks that this company shares same understandings of automotive ecology with him. That is the main reason he chooses LeEco Auto.
LeEco Auto has the most excellent managing talents with joining of Ding Lei, the former vice CEO of SAIC and CEO of Shanghai GM, and Zhang Hailiang, both of which had performed well in TOP 2 automotive companies in China, according to Jia Yueting, the founder and CEO of LeEco. Ding is in charge of overall work as CEO while Zhang focuses more on management, operation and some global business.
LeEco Auto has picked out 95% suppliers. 80% of these suppliers have joint ventures and operating base in China. Therefore, it won’t be a tough job for LeEco Auto to be localized in China. Now LeEco Auto is going through regulating certification, subsystem certification, prototype manufacturing and quality certification, etc.
