Gasgoo Munich- Forvia Hella officially unveiled its first fully integrated 12-volt lithium-ion battery pack on July 7. By merging lithium-ion cells with the battery management system (BMS), the unit offers a lighter weight and simplified structure. Tailored for hybrid and pure electric vehicles, it aims to deliver a smart upgrade to low-voltage power systems.

In pure electric vehicles, the 12-volt grid powers critical safety and comfort features, including driver-assistance systems and infotainment. This battery pack handles standard low-voltage loads and acts as a redundant power link if the high-voltage network fails. During emergencies, it ensures core functions like steering and braking keep running, reinforcing functional safety.
Equipped with advanced multi-dimensional algorithms, the pack precisely captures core parameters like current, voltage, and temperature. Even under harsh conditions, it delivers high-precision calculations for state of charge (SoC) and state of health (SoH) throughout its lifecycle, ensuring safe and stable operation. The integrated design significantly cuts installation space and simplifies interfaces, allowing flexible adaptation to various vehicle architectures. It is also about 20% lighter than traditional lead-acid batteries.
The battery pack can be paired with Forvia Hella's proprietary high-voltage DC-DC converter to achieve safety redundancy up to ASIL D standards. Under normal conditions, the converter powers 12-volt loads from the high-voltage grid. If the high-voltage network fails, the battery pack immediately takes over to keep power flowing.
The countdown to mass production has begun. The product has secured orders from multiple international automakers worth hundreds of millions of euros. Forvia Hella plans to kick off mass production in China in the summer of 2027.
