FORVIA signs new project in Changshu to support Chery New Energy

Gasgoo Munich- FORVIA has confirmed that its Faurecia new energy vehicle smart cockpit project officially found home in Changshu, Jiangsu province, on January 21. This move marks a critical step in the group's push to expand its presence in China and target the electric vehicle sector, accelerating the localization of smart cockpit technologies.

As the world's seventh-largest automotive technology supplier, FORVIA remains focused on smart, sustainable cockpits. Through its joint venture with Chery Automobile, the company already delivers a comprehensive range of cockpit solutions—covering seats, interiors, and electronics.

Expanding its footprint in Changshu primarily aims to meet Chery's specific supply chain needs for new energy vehicles. It also leverages the Yangtze River Delta's strategic location and industrial strengths to integrate global technology with local production capacity—strengthening its service capabilities for key clients.

This expansion is significant. Once operational, the new facility will focus on supplying high-quality complete seats for Chery's EVs, driving a significant increase in annual output value. By integrating with existing operations in Changshu, the company expects to increase its total production value. Furthermore, FORVIA's expertise in smart manufacturing and sustainability will bolster the local smart cockpit industrial chain.

FORVIA notes that it has already established a benchmark Asia-Pacific plant in Changshu. This upgrade will utilize AI-driven manufacturing and green materials to closely integrate global cockpit technology with the local industrial ecosystem—accelerating the pace of smart manufacturing in China.

Zhang Yizhu, President of Faurecia Seating Asia-Pacific, emphasized the company's commitment: "We will continue to consolidate our presence in Changshu, introducing advanced technologies and high-quality projects.
