Gasgoo Munich- Founder Motor's R&D headquarters in the Shanghai Jiading Hydrogen Port has topped out, according to a report by Gasgoo citing the "Shanghai Jiading" WeChat account. The milestone signals a shift into interior construction and equipment installation for the district's key industrial project of the year.
Funded by Fangde Zhiqu (Shanghai) Electromechanical Technology—a subsidiary of Zhejiang Founder Motor Co., Ltd.—the project carries a total investment of about 500 million yuan. Situated at the northeast intersection of Jiasong North Road and the planned Junxian Road, the site spans roughly 11,000 square meters with a total floor area of 28,000 square meters. The master plan features an eight-story R&D tower and a smart manufacturing facility serving as the podium structure.

Having passed its structural inspection, the site is now moving ahead with rough interior work and mechanical and electrical installations. Under the current timeline, exterior facade work and interior finishing will begin next month, alongside the development of outdoor infrastructure like roads and landscaping. The entire project is slated for final acceptance in the first quarter of 2027.
Upon completion, the headquarters will focus on two core pillars: high-end new energy electric drive systems and high-precision electronic controls. It aims to integrate R&D with industrial production, serving as a comprehensive hub that combines a modern technology center for forward-looking products, a manufacturing base for high-precision controller units, and centers for corporate operations and international command.
Industry observers note that locating the project in Jiading's Anting area allows the company to tap into the region's deep automotive roots, complete supply chain, and maturing innovation ecosystem. The move is expected to strengthen the innovation chain for high-end drive technologies and foster collaboration among upstream and downstream partners. Ultimately, it will bolster Jiading's bid to become a more competitive hub for intelligent connected new energy vehicles and a world-class automotive cluster.
