Gasgoo Munich- the 14th Automobile & Environment Innovation Forum convened in Shanghai on October 23.

Fu Yuwu, Honorary Chairman of the Society of Automotive Engineers of China (SAE-China) and
Chairman of Beijing Huaqi Automotive Culture Foundation, delivered a virtual address. Centering on the "15th Five-Year Plan for the Development of the Intelligent Connected New Energy Vehicle Industry" — recently issued by nine departments including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology — he outlined the path for strengthening "soft power" in building an automotive powerhouse.
Fu Yuwu noted that the plan sets a clear target: joining the ranks of the world's automotive powerhouses by 2030. This ambition has driven generations of industry professionals for half a century. Beyond fortifying supply chain resilience and breaking through core technologies, he argued, the industry must foster collaboration across government, academia, and the private sector to accelerate the enhancement of industrial soft power — building a new ecosystem and a new set of values.
Fu Yuwu believes that boosting soft power requires creating an environment conducive to "zero-to-one" original innovation. The industry must move toward rule-based management to address issues such as cutthroat internal competition, disorderly rivalry, and low efficiency. Furthermore, companies must accelerate their ESG efforts and fulfill social responsibilities. Fu Yuwu emphasized that as economic pressure mounts, the commitment to talent as the primary resource must remain unwavering. It is crucial to drive synergistic success across the supply chain and its partners.
