Shanghai (Gasgoo)- GAC Group has taken another decisive step in advancing its "Panyu Action" reform with the formal establishment of the Trumpchi Business Unit on January 16, 2026, following the earlier creation of the HYPTEC–AION BU. The move underscores the automaker's push to overhaul the operating mechanisms of its self-owned brands and signals a new phase marked by clearer accountability, tighter resource focus, and more efficient operations across its proprietary portfolio.

Confronted with sweeping changes driven by electrification and intelligent technologies, GAC launched the Panyu Action in 2024 to reorient the group around a more user-centric operating model. Central to this effort is the BU-based restructuring of its self-owned brands, designed to dismantle internal silos, energize teams, and create business entities that are leaner, faster, and more responsive to market demand.
The newly formed Trumpchi BU will take full responsibility for the brand's future development by bringing together R&D, manufacturing, and sales across the entire value chain. This integrated structure is intended to sharpen decision-making and accelerate market response. In 2026, the BU will focus on a comprehensive brand refresh, anchored in Trumpchi's positioning as mainstream, premium, and refined, and driven by three pillars: technology upgrades, product reinvention, and deeper user experiences. The goal is to build a more competitive product lineup, deploy ecosystem technologies with greater emotional appeal, and deliver services that resonate more closely with customers, ultimately elevating the brand to a new level.
Even before the Trumpchi BU came into being, the earlier launch of the HYPTEC–AION BU had already demonstrated the effectiveness of the BU model. In December 2025, the unit posted monthly sales of more than 40,000 vehicles, highlighting its resilience in an intensely competitive new energy vehicle market. A standout contributor was the AION i60, which surpassed 10,000 units in its first month on sale and quickly emerged as a key growth driver.
GAC Group has emphasized that, amid profound industry transformation and intensifying competition, shared resources and coordinated development are essential to building lasting competitive strength. The parallel operation of the HYPTEC–AION and Trumpchi BUs is expected to enable more efficient resource integration and faster market reactions, ultimately delivering greater value to customers. Looking ahead, GAC plans to use this dual-BU structure to accelerate the implementation of the Panyu Action, strengthen its overall system competitiveness, and inject fresh momentum into high-quality growth as it works toward a "new GAC."
