Gasgoo Munich- On Jan. 23, an investor asked on an interactive platform whether GAC Group would sell models like the Trumpchi M8 through Huawei's retail channels. The automaker has since responded.
GAC Group stated that it has signed a comprehensive cooperation framework agreement with Huawei Device. The two parties will focus on co-building the HarmonyOS ecosystem and driving joint innovation in AI and other cutting-edge technologies. By deeply integrating their respective strengths in new energy vehicle manufacturing, operating systems, smart cockpits, and global services, they aim to jointly create smart mobility solutions with global competitiveness.
GAC Group added that this collaboration marks the latest progress in their comprehensive partnership, covering strategic alignment in technology and ecosystems — but it does not currently involve sales channels. Since 2017, the company has continuously expanded and deepened its strategic relationship with Huawei, spanning hardware to software, products to cloud services, R&D to intelligent manufacturing, and the joint creation of high-end smart NEV brands.

Earlier this month, Richard Yu, Huawei's executive director and chairman of the Consumer Business Group, visited GAC Group to discuss building the HarmonyOS ecosystem with Chairman Feng Xingya. During the visit, Yu test-drove several models equipped with Huawei's Qiankun smart driving system and HarmonyOS smart cockpit.
The following day, details of the partnership were released. According to the comprehensive cooperation framework agreement between GAC Group and Huawei Terminal, the two sides will focus on co-building the HarmonyOS ecosystem and pursuing joint innovation in AI and other cutting-edge technologies. They plan to deeply integrate their respective advantages in NEV manufacturing, operating systems, smart cockpits, and global services to build globally competitive smart mobility solutions, thereby accelerating the intelligent transformation and international expansion of China's automotive industry.
