CATL posts 52% revenue jump, 49% profit gain in Q1
On April 15, CATL announced its financial results for the first quarter of 2026, posting revenue of RMB 129.13 billion, up 52.45% year-on-year. Net profit attributable to shareholders reached RMB 20.74 billion, a 48.52% increase, while net profit excluding non-recurring items rose 52.95% to RMB 18.09 billion. Earnings per share came in at RMB 4.58, up 44.03%.
For full-year 2025, CATL recorded revenue of RMB 423.70 billion, up 17.04%, and net profit of RMB 72.20 billion, a 42.28% increase, with a net margin of 17%. The company’s global leadership further strengthened in 2025, with annual battery sales reaching 661 GWh, up 39%.
AITO M8 deliveries surpass 170,000 units in one year
On April 16, Richard Yu, Chairman of Huawei’s Consumer Business Group, revealed that cumulative deliveries of the AITO M8 have exceeded 170,000 units within its first year on the market, making it the annual sales champion in the RMB 400,000 SUV segment.
The midsize-to-large SUV is available in both range-extended and battery-electric versions, with five- and six-seat configurations, starting at RMB 359,800.
The range-extended variant, launched in April 2025, offers a CLTC combined range of up to 1,526 km and accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 5.2 seconds.
The battery-electric version, introduced in August 2025, features a 100 kWh CATL battery and an 800V architecture, enabling 30% to 80% charging in 15 minutes and delivering a CLTC range of up to 705 km.
XPENG opens pre-sales for flagship full-size SUV GX
On April 15, XPENG launched pre-sales for its first full-size flagship SUV, the  XPENG GX, with a starting price of RMB 399,800.
The model is offered in both battery-electric and range-extended versions. The all-electric AWD variant delivers a CLTC range of 750 km, while the range-extended version offers 430 km of pure electric range and a combined range of up to 1,585 km.
Positioned as a technology flagship, the GX features an L4-ready architecture, steer-by-wire chassis, aviation-grade redundancy safety, and incorporates Robotaxi-derived technologies, aiming to redefine the value proposition of full-size SUVs.
