Chery's July Exports Surpass 200,000 for the First Time

On August 1, Chery Group released its July sales results, reporting 276,820 vehicles sold, up 23.3% year over year. Exports reached a record 202,533 units, an increase of 70.1%, making Chery the first Chinese automaker to export more than 200,000 vehicles in a single month. The company has now set a new monthly export record forfive consecutive months. Meanwhile, new energy vehicle (NEV) sales climbed to a record 129,067 units, up 97.5% from a year earlier.

For the first seven months of 2026, Chery sold1.63 million vehicles, up 10.1% year over year. Cumulative exports totaled 1.15 million units, a 71.2% increase, while cumulative NEV sales reached 604,305 units, up 42.3%.

XPeng Unveils G9L Flagship SUV

XPeng has officially unveiled the G9L, a new full-size SUV positioned as a "global five-seat technology flagship" and aimed at the RMB 300,000 segment. Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng said the project was initiated three years ago with the goal of creating a technology benchmark capable of competing with nearly every model in its class worldwide.

The G9L inherits XPeng's flagship safety architecture, featuring aviation-grade redundant safety systems and engineering that complies with the five-star safety standards of four major global safety assessment programs. Measuring 5,120 mm in length with a 3,100 mm wheelbase, the SUV adopts a spacious five-seat layout.

For the first time, XPeng is offering both battery-electric (BEV) and extended-range electric (EREV) versions of the model. The BEV variant is available with 91.9 kWh or 110 kWh battery packs, delivering up to 805 km of CLTC range, while the all-wheel-drive version produces 430 kW of system output. The EREV model combines a 1.5T range extender with a 63.3 kWh LFP battery, providing up to 350 km of WLTC pure electric range. The G9L is expected to go on sale in the third quarter of 2026.

WeRide Enters Denmark as First Chinese Robotaxi Company in Nordic Market

WeRide has entered into a strategic partnership with Danish shared mobility operator GreenMobility to launch Denmark's first commercial autonomous ride-hailing service, marking the company's debut in the Nordic market. The collaboration also makes WeRide the first Chinese Robotaxi company to establish operations in Northern Europe.

Subject to regulatory approval, the partners plan to begin commercial operations in the first half of 2027, deploying WeRide's latest Level 4 Robotaxi GXR, which has been developed to comply with EU regulations. Denmark will become WeRide's sixth European market, following the company's recent launches in Madrid, Spain, and Zurich, Switzerland, announced in June 2026.

According to WeRide, Denmark's advanced digital infrastructure, high electric vehicle adoption, and supportive regulatory framework provide favorable conditions for commercial autonomous driving services. The project also reflects the company's asset-light global expansion strategy, combining WeRide's autonomous driving technology with GreenMobility's local operating capabilities and customer network to accelerate commercialization in overseas markets.
