XPENG unveils its first flagship six-seat SUV GX
On February 5, He Xiaopeng, founder and CEO of XPENG Motors, officially announced via Weibo that XPENG will soon introduce its first flagship large six-seat SUV, the GX, and released official images of the model. The GX adopts XPENG's latest family design language, featuring a clean yet powerful and commanding exterior.
He Xiaopeng explained that extensive real-world user research revealed major shortcomings in existing three-row SUVs, including poor long-distance comfort in the third row, insufficient cargo space when fully loaded, and heavy, cumbersome handling.
To address these pain points, XPENG developed the GX on its new SEPA 3.0 physical AI vehicle architecture, which delivers system-wide innovation in integration, intelligence, handling performance, and safety. The GX is equipped with an AI chassis featuring steer-by-wire and rear-wheel steering, significantly improving maneuverability and stability. According to XPENG, the vehicle challenges the conventional perception that large SUVs are difficult to drive, making it suitable for both daily urban use and long-distance family travel.
Hesai Technology partners with Grab to expand LiDAR deployment in Southeast Asia
On February 4, Hesai Technology announced a strategic partnership with Grab, a leading Southeast Asian technology and mobility platform. Under the agreement, Grab will serve as Hesai’s exclusive distributor for LiDAR products across Southeast Asia, taking responsibility for regional sales, customer support, and market promotion.
By leveraging Grab's extensive local resources and established commercial network, Hesai aims to significantly enhance the availability and accessibility of its high-performance, highly reliable LiDAR sensors in the region. The partnership is expected to support a wide range of applications, including autonomous driving systems, robotics solutions, and other intelligent mobility use cases.
At the same time, Grab will benefit from a stable and reliable supply of core sensing hardware to support its autonomous mobility initiatives and high-definition mapping businesses. Both parties stated that the collaboration will serve as a platform to jointly promote the development of physical AI and embodied intelligence in Southeast Asia, enabling intelligent systems to operate safely and reliably in complex urban environments.
Foxconn launches CNY 1 billion NEV R&D center in Zhengzhou
On February 4, Foxconn officially commenced operations at its CNY 1 billion New Energy Vehicle (NEV) R&D Center located in the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone in Henan Province. Invested and built by Foxconn New Energy Vehicle Industry Development (Henan) Co., Ltd., the center began construction in July 2024 and is positioned as a global intelligent benchmark facility and an innovation hub for the NEV industry.
The center will focus on key areas such as NEV product planning, vehicle platform development, and complete vehicle manufacturing. According to Foxconn NEV General Manager Li Guangyao, the facility operates under a contract design and manufacturing service (CDMS) model and has already reduced new vehicle development cycles to 24 months through digital R&D processes, smart factory systems, and efficient supply chain collaboration.
Looking ahead, the center plans to work closely with partners on next-generation electronic and electrical architectures, intelligent driving technologies, and other core innovations, playing a critical role in Foxconn’s broader strategic expansion in Henan and its global NEV ambitions.
