Geely Holding, Gree forge strategic alliance to advance China’s smart manufacturing push

Gasgoo Munich- On July 3, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group and Gree Electric Appliances formally signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement, pledging to collaborate on the electrification, intelligence, and digital transformation of the automotive industry while leveraging their respective strengths to support high-quality development in China's manufacturing sector.

Under the agreement, the two companies will use the ongoing transformation of the automotive sector as a foundation for cooperation. Geely Holding Group will contribute its expertise in smart electric mobility and services, while Gree will bring its strengths in HVAC technology and advanced manufacturing capabilities. Together, they plan to explore joint development in in-vehicle smart hardware, intelligent manufacturing supply chains, logistics and warehousing, industrial internet applications, user ecosystems, smart transportation systems, and even home appliance integration, aiming to deliver more intelligent, comfortable, and sustainable living experiences.

As two prominent representatives of Chinese manufacturing, Geely and Gree have both emphasized long-term technological innovation and core capability development as drivers of high-quality growth. In March this year, Gree Chairwoman Dong Mingzhu became an owner of the Zeekr 009 Grand, a premium model under Geely's Zeekr brand, and was appointed as a "quality experience officer" for the vehicle.

The latest agreement is seen as a further deepening of ties between the two companies. It not only highlights complementary strengths across different industrial sectors, but also reflects a broader effort among Chinese manufacturers to pursue coordinated innovation and move further up the global value chain.
