Gasgoo Munich- On October 15, Geely Holding Group reported cumulative sales of 3 million units for the first three quarters of 2026 — a record high. New-energy vehicle sales jumped 12.6% year-on-year to 1.79 million units, driving the NEV penetration rate to 59.7%.

Amid a grinding price war and a volatile global trade landscape, Geely Holding has done more than just defend its market scale. It has achieved breakthroughs in both its new-energy structure and its global operations.
Brand Matrix Shifts from "Scale Growth" to "Structural Growth"
Geely Automobile Holdings Ltd. sold 2.24 million units in the first nine months of the year — a historic high and a 3% annual increase. New-energy vehicles accounted for 1.33 million of those sales, up 14% year-on-year, with a penetration rate of 59.3%.
Overall sales edged up while new-energy deliveries posted double-digit growth, signaling that Geely Automobile is successfully transitioning from an internal combustion engine stronghold to a new-energy powerhouse. The shift hasn't come at the cost of scale; instead, the company has kept its traditional base stable while making NEVs the primary engine of growth.

Breaking it down by brand, Geely China Star delivered 873,776 units in the first three quarters, cementing its position as a leader among Chinese fuel-powered brands. Geely Galaxy, meanwhile, shifted 877,184 units, driven by a string of heavy-hitting products. With sales nearly neck-and-neck, the two have formed a "fuel plus new-energy" dual pillar. China Star provides the scale and cash flow needed for the transition, while Galaxy handles the NEV growth and brand uplift. Together, they allow the Geely brand to defend its mainstream base while carving out space in the new-energy sector.

The high-end new-energy matrix is also standing out. Lynk & Co recorded 196,117 sales in the first three quarters, with new-energy models accounting for 71.5% of the total as its market competitiveness strengthens. That 71.5% mix represents more than just a product portfolio shift — it suggests the brand has fundamentally reshaped its customer appeal, channel capabilities, and market positioning.
ZEEKR delivered 288,404 units in the first nine months — a 101% surge year-on-year — as its star models continued to gain traction, solidifying its position as a leader in luxury new-energy vehicles. Doubling sales in the premium market above 300,000 yuan is no small feat. It demonstrates that Geely's systemic strengths in pure-electric platforms, smart cockpits, autonomous driving, and battery technology are translating into market success.
From Geely Galaxy and China Star to Lynk & Co and ZEEKR, Geely Holding has built a complete brand ladder spanning the mainstream to premium segments. These brands occupy distinct price bands while sharing synergies in technology, supply chains, sales channels, and user operations. This "One Geely" matrix offers greater resilience than a single-brand approach, shifting the group's growth from scale-driven to structure-driven.
Multi-Brand Synergy Opens New Space for Global "System Export"
Overseas exports for Geely Automobile soared 169% year-on-year to 797,670 units in the first three quarters. September alone saw 106,685 units shipped abroad, marking the fourth consecutive month exports exceeded 100,000. Crucially, new-energy vehicle exports jumped to 484,086 units, making up 61% of the total — a significant increase from last year.
These figures send two clear signals: First, Geely Automobile's overseas business has reached scale, with monthly sales of 100,000 units becoming the norm. Second, the export structure is pivoting from fuel-powered vehicles to new-energy models, with a marked rise in high-value products. A 61% NEV export mix indicates Geely isn't relying on cheap ICE cars to move volume overseas; it's competing globally with new-energy offerings. Despite EU tariff barriers and a complex trade environment, Geely's export growth remains robust — a sign that its overseas product mix, operational capabilities, and localization strategies are steadily improving.
Geely Holding's globalization is entering a new phase of "system export" — moving from shipping products and brands abroad to exporting technology, supply chains, and entire ecosystems.

Multi-brand global synergy underpins this phase. Volvo Cars sold 466,000 units globally in the first three quarters, with 237,000 new-energy vehicles, achieving a 50.7% penetration rate and further consolidating its transition. Polestar delivered roughly 45,000 units over the same period, with third-quarter sales exceeding 14,000 — the best quarterly performance in the brand's history. Proton moved about 161,000 units, surpassing its full-year 2025 sales and setting a record for the period since its partnership with Geely began in 2017.
The commercial vehicle sector has emerged as a new growth driver. Geely's Farizon new-energy commercial brand sold roughly 149,000 units in the first three quarters, up 38.8% year-on-year. In September, Farizon debuted at the 2026 Hanover IAA Motor Show, entering the European market with a "product plus ecosystem" model. Its light commercial vehicles became the first in the industry to sell over 20,000 units in a month. With passenger and commercial vehicles advancing in tandem, and domestic and overseas markets aligning, Geely Holding's diversified layout is building stronger resilience against market cycles.
Summary: Guided by the "Taizhou Declaration," Geely Holding is pursuing its 2030 strategic goal of "One Geely, Comprehensive Leadership" to drive a high-quality transformation. Marking its 40th anniversary as a new starting point, Geely remains focused on its core business, driven by technological innovation and quality improvements. The aim is to deliver value that exceeds user expectations and propel Chinese automakers up the global value chain.
Judging by its performance in the first three quarters of 2026, Geely Holding is no longer chasing volume for volume's sake. Instead, it is prioritizing new-energy penetration, export ratios, premium brand mix, and commercial vehicle growth. These structural metrics are better indicators of long-term competitiveness than raw sales figures. Three million units is a milestone, but it is also just a beginning. As its new-energy transition deepens and its global capabilities unlock, Geely Holding is poised to evolve from a leader in China to a leader globally under its "One Geely" strategy.
