The new EC7 features Geely's self-developed all-aluminum GETECJLγ-4G18 CVVT engine (102Kw, 172Nm of torque), matching Punch Powertrain's VT2-type CVT with a six-speed manual mode, a sports mode and an economy mode.
Reportedly, the VT2-type CVT, produced by the Belgium transmission manufacturer's Chinese partner, Punch (Nanjing) Automatic Transmission Co., can work like a six-speed automatic transmission (AT) and has better fuel economy, with a 32% increase in the drive ratio, a 10.6% decrease in the start time and a 16% increase in the final drive ratio.
As Geely's strategic model to enter the mid- and high-end vehicle segment in China's auto market, the Emgrand EC7 has sold 40,000 units in less than a year since its launch, with monthly sales reaching 6,000 units. The new Emgrand EC7 will certainly help continue the sales boom, the company said.
