Shanghai (Gasgoo)- The Taizhou Municipal People's Government and Geely Holding Group signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement on Jan. 8, pledging to deepen collaboration in new-energy vehicles (NEVs).
At the signing ceremony, Taizhou officials said the auto industry is a pillar of the city's manufacturing economy, and the partnership marks a key step toward a higher-end, smarter industrial structure. Geely Holding Group Chairman Li Shufu noted that Taizhou has a solid auto-parts base and a complete supply chain; leveraging its current footprint, Geely will introduce advanced capacity for NEV assembly and core components to elevate Taizhou's role in NEV manufacturing.
The cooperation will span whole-vehicle manufacturing, supply-chain integration, technology innovation and talent development. The Taizhou base is expected to take on production for Geely's high-end NEV models and build tighter synergies with local parts suppliers. Geely already operates vehicle assembly and powertrain plants in Taizhou, and the new agreement will accelerate a tilt of its capacity toward NEVs.
