GigaDevice is a fabless chip supplier with an established presence in automotive-grade semiconductors, spanning both memory and microcontroller units. The company said cumulative shipments of its automotive-grade Flash products have exceeded 300 million units, with applications ranging from intelligent cockpits to driver-assistance systems. In high-performance MCUs, its GD32A7 automotive series has entered mass production and secured multiple vehicle design wins, while total shipments of GD32A automotive MCUs have surpassed 8 million units.
Under the agreement, the two companies will combine their respective strengths in semiconductors and vehicle manufacturing, with a focus on co-developing automotive-grade chips aligned with next-generation electronic and electrical architectures. GigaDevice will leverage its expertise in memory, MCUs and related chips, together with its large-scale manufacturing capabilities, to supply Chery with high-performance, highly reliable automotive semiconductor solutions.
Chery, for its part, will contribute its experience in vehicle platform development, system integration and market insight, providing critical input for top-level chip design, precise functional definition and performance optimization, as well as full-vehicle validation to ensure that semiconductor solutions meet real-world automotive requirements.
The partnership will initially target key intelligent vehicle domains such as smart cockpits and autonomous driving, with the goal of creating an end-to-end collaboration spanning chip definition, joint development, automotive-grade validation and large-scale production. By shortening the path from innovation to commercialization, GigaDevice and Chery aim to deliver competitive benchmark products and solutions, marking a significant step toward a new industry model of deeper "chip–vehicle collaboration."
