General Motors Corp.'s (GM) China President Kevin Wale said Tuesday the U.S. auto maker, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Monday, will continue to pursue a commercial vehicle joint venture with China FAW Group Corp.
"We anticipate moving forward with that in a positive manner," Wale said.
GM and FAW said in February they were in talks to form a partnership. The two auto makers planned to set up a light commercial vehicle joint venture, an FAW official said then.
Wale added GM's automobile sales in China in May rose 75% from a year earlier to 156,000.
