Gasgoo.com (Shanghai December 4) - The Cadillac XTS will be brought over to China early next year, the Beijing Morning Post reported today, citing a statement made by GM China President Bob Socia. Mr. Socia also revealed that GM will release a new model in the country every year until 2016.

Mr. Socia (pictured) made the comments at GM's second Tech Day event, held in Shanghai. That same day, GM China announced second-phase expansion of its Advanced Technical Center (ATC). Following completion of expansion work, the center will be China's most comprehensive automobile technology center, coordinating Chinese research and development, automobile and engine testing, and lab work related to the Onstar communication client.

According to GM Vice President Jon Lauckner, the manufacturer's R&D work in China will focus on five key areas: electric batteries, lightweight materials, engine and transmission work, manufacturing processes and integrated driving experiences. ATC will focus primarily on developing high efficiency battery technology.
