Gasgoo Munich- Saudi Arabia's first batch of large-scale battery energy storage projects has recently moved into the construction phase. Gotion High-Tech has secured the projects' core 6 GWh energy storage order and will provide complete energy storage solutions for three major storage sites in Saudi Arabia, according to a post on the battery manufactuer's WeChat account.

The company said the project marks its entry into the high-end energy storage market in the Middle East and represents a further step toward deeper participation by Chinese energy storage companies in the region's energy transition.
The Middle East presents demanding operating conditions for energy storage systems, including extreme aridity, frequent sandstorms and large temperature variations between day and night. The project also adopts a BOO (Build-Own-Operate) model, placing stringent requirements on the reliability, durability and long-term performance of its energy storage equipment.
To address these operating conditions and long-term requirements, Gotion High-Tech has developed an integrated energy storage solution tailored to the project.
At the core of the solution is Gotion High-Tech's Qianyuan Smart Energy Storage System, which features a highly integrated design, large capacity and long cycle life, according to the company.
The system incorporates modular integration, precise temperature control and intelligent battery management technologies, enabling stable operation across a temperature range of -30°C to 55°C. It is also equipped with dedicated protection measures for high temperatures, wind and sand, designed to improve system stability and reliability under challenging environmental conditions.
Once operational, the project will store surplus solar power generated during the day and discharge electricity during periods of peak demand. This will help improve the temporal matching between renewable power generation and electricity consumption, while enhancing the Saudi grid's ability to accommodate renewable energy and respond flexibly to changes in power demand.
As more large-scale energy storage projects are deployed globally, Gotion High-Tech is seeking to further evolve its international business model from "Made in China" toward a combination of Chinese technology and global services.
The company said it will continue to expand its presence in global new energy markets, working with regional industry partners to provide energy storage technologies and integrated solutions in support of the global energy transition and low-carbon development.
