Gasgoo Munich- Great Wall Motor (GWM) and TotalEnergies officially inaugurated the third phase of their joint laboratory program in Baoding on June 3, 2026, marking a new chapter in their long-standing partnership. Centered on joint technology development and global collaboration, the initiative will strengthen research into advanced lubricants for high-efficiency transmission systems while expanding localized supply cooperation in overseas markets.

The two companies first began working together in 2010 through lubricant supply and aftersales service programs. Over the past 16 years, the partnership has evolved into a global supply network supporting GWM's international operations. The newly launched laboratory will focus on developing next-generation lubricants designed for more efficient and energy-saving transmission systems, providing technical support for the automaker's broader global expansion strategy.
Under the new framework, GWM and TotalEnergies plan to establish a unified global lubricant product portfolio to better support the automaker's overseas manufacturing footprint and improve aftersales responsiveness across international markets. By aligning technical standards and strengthening localized supply-chain capabilities, the two companies aim to create a coordinated ecosystem that enhances operational efficiency and sustainability worldwide.
Beyond extending a 16-year strategic relationship, the agreement highlights a broader trend among Chinese automakers seeking to integrate global technology standards with localized supply-chain resources as they expand abroad.
