Guangzhou Honda Automobile Co., Ltd., one of the two ventures of Honda Motor Co. in China, plans to introduce a global A-class car model of Honda within 2008.
The Guangzhou-based venture, which is now engaged in making medium- and high-grade sedan model Accord, small car model Fit and economic car model City, will fill its product lineup vacancy with the A-class car model.
The new car will be powered by 1.8L I-VTEC engine, targeting the family sedan segment. It is priced at over 100,000 yuan, with a three-compartment four-door edition to first hit the market.
Earlier this year, the venture revealed that it had got the license to make the Europe edition of two-compartment five-door Civic, a compact sedan model as late as 2010.
The Japanese edition of three-compartment Civic has been made in Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co., Ltd., the other Chinese venture of Honda, proving as a hot-selling A-class family car model in the country.
