To realize the handy auxiliary equipment for Guangzhou's auto industry, speed up the integration of three vehicle groups' industrial chain, and form Guangzhou as a world class complete vehicles, components and parts manufacturing base, Chen Deming, vice mayor of Guangzhou led an economic and trade delegation to Japan to start the automobiles and modern service industry and software industry campaign for investment and exchanges, from May 29 to June 1.

This year, the fourth Nissan global research and development center and the Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Technology Center started operations. Guangzhou Toyota Camry complete vehicles came off the production line and went on sale ahead of schedule, and Guangzhou Honda No. 2 Factory will complete construction and start production.

The eastern, northern and southern automobile industrial groups with Dongfeng Nissan, Guangzhou Honda, and Guangzhou Toyota as its core respectively, have come into being. The cluster effects of these complete vehicles companies have become increasingly evident.

According to statistics, Guangzhou produced 406,000 cars in total, ranking it second among China's car manufacturing districts. It is expected that Guangzhou will have a production capacity of 1.6 million cars in 2010, with the components and parts production value of more than RMB 100 billion.

Currently, nearly 400 foreign-funded components and parts companies have settled in Guangzhou, around the three complete vehicle companies of Honda, Nissan and Toyota, whose production value in 2005 hit RMB 16.3 billion.  (translated by Guangzhou Association of Foreign Affairs Translators)
