Gasgoo Munich- XPENG Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng took to a livestream on June 3 to debunk rumors swirling online. Despite surging demand for the GX that has stretched delivery times, claims that customers could pay an extra 20,000 yuan to jump the queue are false, he said. He emphasized that XPENG will not adopt pay-to-cut practices, insisting that GX deliveries will proceed strictly in the order orders were received.

XPENG launched the GX on May 20 with a limited-time starting price of 269,800 yuan. That figure is a sharp draw compared to the previously announced pre-sale price of 399,800 yuan. The value proposition is bolstered by standard features across the lineup, including rear-wheel steering, Turing AI chips, 16,000-ton die-cast body structures, and 11 airbags.

The day after the launch, official data showed the GX racked up 24,863 firm orders within 12 hours. The Ultra flagship trim accounted for 80% of the total, while battery-electric orders outpaced those for the extended-range version.

As the GX’s sales momentum held strong two weeks post-launch, He visited the production line for a livestream to address customer concerns over delivery timelines. The company has reportedly formed a "special task force" to pressure the supply chain and ramp up output. To steadily increase production, XPENG is urgently adding molds for critical components.

During the broadcast, He also stepped in as a test driver, putting the GX through a series of rigorous road tests immediately after it rolled off the assembly line to verify driving dynamics. He also revealed that the GX undergoes 200 more quality inspection items than the industry average.
