Gasgoo Munich-XPENG recently announced that the L03, the second model in its MONA series, will officially debut in July. Positioned as a smart, stylish SUV targeting younger consumers, the company is billing it as "the first smart, stylish SUV for the young."

XPENG Chairman He Xiaopeng revealed on social media that the MONA L03 was developed by an independently formed global design team led by Juanma López, a veteran who spent eight years at Ferrari overseeing several classic models. He noted that the industry has long concentrated core design resources on flagship vehicles, often neglecting independent design investment for products aimed at younger users. The MONA series aims to break that pattern. Drawing from research into young consumers' aesthetic preferences, the team crafted a unique design philosophy for the L03, with core members bringing extensive experience developing successful models for global markets.
According to filings with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the MONA L03 measures 4,650mm long, 1,920mm wide, and 1,600mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,850mm. While slightly smaller than the XPENG G6, it sits in the mid-to-upper tier of its segment. Compared to rivals like the BYD Yuan PLUS and GAC AION Y Plus, the L03 boasts a wheelbase advantage that should translate into a more spacious interior.
Regarding the MONA series roadmap, officials disclosed that the internal project code is "MONALISA." The letter M stands for sedan, corresponding to the already released M03, while L denotes SUV, matching the upcoming L03. Together, these two body styles form the complete MONALISA product ecosystem. As the L03 launch approaches, XPENG's product matrix in this segment is set to expand further.
