Honda Motor Co. (HMC) said it sold 42,164 vehicles in China in May, a 41.4% increase from 29,812 units a year earlier.
It said in a statement it sold 27,678 units in May through its joint venture with Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Guangzhou Honda Automobile Group Co., up 36.6% from 20,266 vehicles a year earlier.
Through its joint venture with Dongfeng Motor Corp., Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co., it sold 14,486 vehicles last month, up 51.7% from 9,546 units a year earlier, it said.
For the first five months this year, Honda sold 193,193 vehicles, an increase of 28.1% from 150,852 in 2007, the Japanese automaker said.
