Design and dimensions
The Hongqi G919 adopts a design concept inspired by traditional Chinese ceremonial aesthetics and the mortise-and-tenon joints found in ancient Chinese architecture. Its grille draws on the imagery of cascading mountain waterfalls, while rectangular full-LED headlights feature a retro design and lighting effects that pay tribute to earlier Hongqi models.
The G919 measures 5,135 mm long, 2,050 mm wide and 1,950 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm. Flared wheel arches, black lower body cladding and a floating-roof design emphasize its off-road styling. All-terrain tires are available. At the rear, the vehicle has a side-opening tailgate, an externally mounted storage box and vertically arranged taillights on both sides.
Driver assistance technology
The G919 is equipped with a Zhuoyu 384-line lidar mounted on the front roof area and Hongqi Sinan 5.0 Max driver-assistance system. It debuts variable field-of-view technology designed to provide wider coverage in urban environments and longer-range perception on highways. In complex urban conditions, the lidar expands its horizontal scanning range. The model also debuts a main lidar with a satellite architecture.
Interior, infotainment and comfort
The cabin features an upright, angular design, with a central layout inspired by Beijing's central axis. Equipment includes a 17.3-inch 3K central touchscreen, a 17.3-inch rear entertainment screen and a 8295P cockpit chip. The vehicle supports AI interaction through both Doubao and Qianwen large language models. The center console has a gear selector styled like an aircraft control lever and a horizontally symmetrical layout. Other equipment includes a 7.3-liter onboard refrigerator, rear-seat tables and an 18-speaker Dynaudio sound system.
The front passenger seat features a four-way power-adjustable leg rest, heating, ventilation and eight-point massage. The second-row seats offer heating, ventilation and power adjustment, with a maximum recline angle of 131 degrees. The luggage compartment has a capacity of 950 liters, expandable to 2,120 liters.
Powertrain and performance
The G919 uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged range-extender system paired with four electric motors. According to the manufacturer, the system delivers a combined output of 620 kW and torque of 1,320 N·m, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. The model offers a CLTC-rated electric range of 280 km and a total range of 1,350 km.
The four-motor system can independently control torque and rotational speed at each wheel, with both sides capable of delivering reverse output. For off-road use, the G919 features front and rear mechanical differential locks, an energy center lock and a dedicated body-on-frame chassis. Hongqi states that the frame has a torsional rigidity of up to 9,500 N·m/°. High-strength and ultra-high-strength steel account for more than 90% of the vehicle's steel structure, while the passenger compartment uses 100% hot-formed steel. The model is also equipped with air suspension.
