Huayou Cobalt Co-launches Global Mining Sustainability Joint Initiative

Gasgoo Munich- Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt Co., Ltd has teamed up with more than a dozen global mining and supply chain heavyweights—including Zijin Mining, Jiangxi Copper, and CMOC Group—to launch the Global Mining Sustainability Joint Initiative (GMSA). The move was announced at the second Global Enterprise High-Quality Belt and Road Summit, hosted by the United Nations Global Compact in Singapore.

Anchored by the UN Global Compact's Ten Principles and the Sustainable Development Goals, the initiative outlines an action framework focused on three pillars: green transition, community development, and good governance. It calls on the industry to accelerate the construction of green mines, adopt low-carbon technologies, and restore mining ecologies. Furthermore, it urges companies to strengthen human rights safeguards, enforce supply chain due diligence, and improve corporate governance and disclosure mechanisms—steering the sector toward a greener, more inclusive, and high-quality future.

A key player in the new-energy lithium battery materials sector, Huayou Cobalt has long championed a green, low-carbon, and circular development model. The company weaves sustainability into every stage of the chain—from resource extraction and material manufacturing to recycling.
